Getting started
What is aftersnap?
aftersnap is a service for professional photographers who want to deliver photos in elegant online galleries: protected when you share them, with face recognition, slideshow, and optionally your own domain.
How do I start? Is it free?
You create an account for free and try every feature of the Studio plan during the free trial, with no payment details. After that you pick the plan that fits you. The pricing page has the overview.
How do I create my first gallery?
Log in, click “New Gallery” in the dashboard, give it a title, and upload photos. Inside a gallery you can create sets to group the photos.
How do I upload photos?
Straight in the browser, by dragging them into the gallery. Or from Adobe Lightroom Classic through our publish plugin, which keeps the galleries and sets in sync on its own.
Sharing & delivering galleries
How do I share a gallery with my clients?
Every gallery has a link that you can pass on directly or send by email. Your guests do not need an account of their own to open the gallery.
Can I protect a gallery with a password?
Yes. You set a password in the gallery settings. On top of that there is a separate master password for you as the photographer, which lets you unhide all photos at once, for example.
How long does a gallery stay online?
You set an optional expiration date for each gallery. After that date the gallery is no longer publicly reachable. Without an expiration date it stays online as long as your plan allows.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, depending on your plan. Your own subdomain (yourname.aftersnap.io) and connecting your own domain both depend on the plan; the pricing page shows which plan includes what. Without either, the gallery link runs through aftersnap.io, and your guests get in just the same.
What happens when I delete a gallery?
Deleted galleries go to the trash first and can be restored from there. Once the retention period is over, they are removed for good automatically.
Downloads & selection
Can my guests download photos?
You decide that per gallery. Downloads can be switched off completely, limited to favorites, or allowed for every photo.
How does downloading all photos work?
Large bulk downloads are packed into a ZIP in the background. If the file is already finished, the download starts immediately; if not, the guest leaves an email address and gets a download link as soon as the ZIP is ready. That link is valid for several days.
Can clients mark their favorite photos?
Yes, if you turn on “Favorites” for the gallery (together with downloads). Your guests mark the photos they like with a heart and can then download just that selection instead of the whole gallery. The marks live in the guest’s browser and are there for their own picking.
Features
How does face recognition work?
In galleries with face recognition turned on, a guest can upload a selfie and automatically finds the photos they appear in. You switch the feature on gallery by gallery.
What is the slideshow?
A full-screen slideshow that plays on its own, with music if you like. You can create several per gallery, each with its own selection of photos, its own music, and its own link; one of them starts from the button on the cover page. The pricing page shows which plans include slideshows and the AI suggestion for the selection.
Can I put a watermark on my photos?
Yes, depending on your plan you can switch on a watermark for the preview images of a gallery.
What are vendor galleries?
They let you share a selection with specific partners (the venue, the florist, the planner). Vendors get a login of their own and can use the photos you released to them.
How do I build an Instagram carousel with photos running across the slides?
Under “Collages” you create a carousel, choose galleries and mark the photos. The automatic layout spreads them over the slides, and a photo can run across the border into the next slide. Each slide comes out on its own at 1440 × 1800 pixels, and a QR code saves them to the photos on your phone with one tap. Collages depend on your plan.
Plans & billing
Which plans are there?
Current plans, storage limits and included features are on the pricing page. You can try the Studio plan without payment details; the length and the terms are shown on the plan itself.
How do I change my plan?
You manage your plan in your account. An upgrade opens up the extra features right away.
My storage is full. What now?
Delete galleries you no longer need permanently from the trash, or move to a plan with more storage. While a gallery sits in the trash, its photos still count. You can see your usage in the dashboard.
Where do I find my invoices?
Your billing details and receipts are in the user menu under “Billing details”.
Account & privacy
I forgot my password.
Use the “Forgot password” link on the login page. You then get an email with a link that lets you set a new password.
How can support help me without knowing my password?
Open “Support” in the dashboard and grant a look at your account there. aftersnap logs every visit, you can end it at any time, and it closes by itself 48 hours after the last visit. We do not need your password for it.
Where is my data stored?
aftersnap is operated in the EU. The privacy policy has the details on processing; a data processing agreement is available for commissioned processing.
How do I delete my account?
Open your profile settings in the dashboard and start the account deletion there. We schedule your account and delete galleries, photos, profile and login for good after 14 days; until then you can undo it. A running subscription ends immediately.
For guests
I got a gallery link. How do I see my photos?
Just open the link in your browser. If the gallery is password-protected, enter the password your photographer gave you. You do not need an account of your own.
How do I find photos I appear in?
If face recognition is switched on for the gallery, open the selfie search and take a photo or pick one. The gallery then shows the images with a matching detection. The selfie is only processed for this search; the gallery shows you the notes on that before you start.
Can I view and save the photos on my phone?
Yes. The gallery works on phone, tablet and desktop. Whether downloads are available, and at what image size, is set by the photographer.
We have no short answer for that here.
Try another term, open the handbook or send us a message.
Stuck?
Write to us through the contact form, ideally with the gallery link and a short description. If you have an account, you can also grant us a look under “Support” in the dashboard.
