Starting a book

Size first

Under “Photo books” you start one. You pick the size as you create it: five common ones, or your own in centimetres. The measurements are for a SINGLE page; a spread is twice as wide.

You can change the size later. Because every frame sits at a percentage of the page rather than at a millimetre, frames move with it instead of becoming wrong.

A new book arrives with a cover and one spread. Twenty empty spreads would be a to-do list before you have started.

Spine width

Your printer tells you the spine width; it follows from the page count and the paper. Enter it and the cover in the editor grows by exactly that much, with the spine drawn as its own area between dashed edges.

Without a spine width the cover is as wide as a spread. That fits softcovers and folded brochures.
