Publish Galleries under Your Own Domain
Under “Profile & settings” you enter an address of your own such as gallery.yourdomain.com, set the CNAME record aftersnap shows you at your domain provider and let aftersnap check the status. The SSL certificate follows on its own; your profile page and your gallery links then run under your address.

Subdomain or your own domain #
Ab Tarif Studio Tarife ansehenThe aftersnap subdomain such as yourname.aftersnap.io works without any DNS setup. Your own domain is a different thing: it belongs to you, and the way there runs through a record at your domain provider.
For most accounts a subdomain such as gallery.yourdomain.com is the better choice. Your website at www.yourdomain.com then stays untouched.
Enter the domain in aftersnap #

- Click “Connect domain”.
- Enter the host name only, for example gallery.yourdomain.com. No https:// and no path.
- Click “Connect”.
aftersnap then shows the one DNS record you have to create at your provider.
Connecting a domain switches your public profile page to visible. Look under “Profile page” afterwards to see which galleries appear there.
Set the CNAME at your domain provider #
Ab Tarif Studio Tarife ansehenTake type, name and value exactly from the aftersnap dialogue. The target value is shown there and can change, so do not copy it from a guide.
Providers name the fields differently. Some expect only gallery in the “Name” field, others the full address gallery.yourdomain.com.
A wildcard record such as *.yourdomain.com does not replace the CNAME. It has to be set for exactly the address you connected.
Check the connection #

- Click “Continue, record is set”.
- If aftersnap cannot find the record yet, wait a few minutes and click “Check status”.
As soon as the record is recognised, aftersnap creates the SSL certificate. No further DNS records are needed for that. The status moves from the DNS setup through the certificate to “live”.
Open the address shown under “Live”, look at your profile page and at a published gallery, and copy the gallery link again. It must now carry your own domain.
- The record is not recognised.
- Compare name and target with the values in the aftersnap dialogue, check that the record really is a CNAME, and check whether your provider has appended the main domain to the name. DNS changes sometimes take several hours.
- The record is recognised but the address is not reachable yet.
- The certificate is still being created. Wait a few minutes and click “Check status”. Do not add certificate records of your own.
- The website on your main domain is no longer reachable.
- Then the main domain was connected instead of a free subdomain, or an existing record was overwritten. Restore the earlier record at your provider and connect aftersnap with a subdomain of its own such as gallery.
Disconnect the domain #

- Click “Disconnect” and confirm.
Links you have already sent under your own domain lead nowhere after disconnecting. Galleries and images stay; new links use your aftersnap address again.
