Looking for a Pic-Time alternative? How aftersnap differs – and where Pic-Time stays ahead

Euros instead of dollars, face search from Studio, EU hosting, delivery and proofing in one gallery. A Pic-Time alternative compared, all figures from August 2026.

If you’re searching for a “Pic-Time alternative”, chances are the galleries themselves aren’t the problem. It’s other things: the invoice in US dollars, the move to Pic-Time 2.0, the commission on sales, the question of where the photos actually live. This article goes through those points one by one – with Pic-Time’s figures and ours, as of 17 August 2026.

Pic-Time in three paragraphs

Pic-Time is a platform from Israel for client galleries, sales and marketing. Its strength is selling: a print shop with more than 40 partner labs, around 13 of them in Europe, plus marketing automations such as countdown discounts or reminders about an abandoned cart. If you earn money with prints, albums and wall art, you’ll find a well-thought-out system there – users on Capterra rate Pic-Time’s customer service 4.9 out of 5.

On top of that: a Lightroom plugin, video delivery up to 90 minutes, a mobile app for photographers and guests, AI search inside the galleries, a blog module and a network for passing images on to wedding vendors.

Since spring 2026, Pic-Time has been moving to “Pic-Time 2.0” – a new gallery design that runs alongside the old version. According to the help centre, some features are “temporarily unavailable” in the new version, among them the selfie search for guests and some of the languages; for those cases Pic-Time recommends running the gallery in the old version (Help centre: what’s temporarily missing in 2.0).

Pricing – dollars versus euros

Pic-Time bills exclusively in US dollars, even on its German-language site. What that costs you per month depends on the exchange rate, and VAT comes on top depending on your country. We bill in euros. The big numbers on our pricing page are prices for Germany, including 19 % VAT; other EU countries apply their own rate, and businesses with a valid VAT number are billed ex VAT (reverse charge).

Two things the table doesn’t show. Pic-Time takes a commission on sales – 15 % in Free and Beginner, 8 or 6 % respectively when Pic-Time collects the money, zero if you collect it yourself via Stripe or PayPal in Professional or Advanced (Help centre: commission rates). With us you pay for the plan and nothing else. And: Pic-Time’s Free plan shrinks from 10 GB to 3 GB after six months; with us you test for 14 days with every Studio feature, no payment details.

For context: a Pic-Time Professional account on annual billing is $21 a month, which is roughly €19 to €20 ex VAT depending on the exchange rate, plus VAT. Our Pro plan is €14.99 incl. VAT, which is €12.60 ex VAT at the German rate of 19 % – with three times the storage. Pic-Time’s Advanced plan with “unlimited” storage is $42; our Studio plan with one terabyte is €24.99 incl. VAT. If you genuinely need more than a terabyte, you end up on our Unlimited plan at €99 – and that is more expensive than Pic-Time Advanced. To be honest: for very large archives Pic-Time is cheaper, for anything up to a terabyte we are.

The gallery: what guests see

Both deliver what a client gallery has to do: password protection, expiry date with reminder, download controls, watermarks. The differences are in the details.

Languages. Pic-Time currently shows galleries in the new version in nine languages, machine-translated (Help centre: gallery language). aftersnap galleries speak 32 languages – all 24 official EU languages and eight more, translated by hand, picked automatically from the guest’s browser setting. For a wedding with family from Madrid and friends from Warsaw, that’s the difference between “Download” in English and “Pobierz” in Polish.

Downloads. Pic-Time controls downloads per scene and per user group. We control them per gallery: no download, single images only, or the whole Set as a ZIP as well – and anyone who marks favourites gets just their selection as a ZIP. On request we stamp your logo onto every download; in the gallery view the image stays clean.

Your own domain. Pic-Time connects a subdomain of your website from the Professional plan upwards. With us, your own domain comes with Studio; from Pro, the gallery runs on your own subdomain at aftersnap. The aftersnap branding disappears from Studio upwards.

Face search and content search

This is where the two systems differ most clearly.

Pic-Time has a selfie search for guests – in the Advanced plan, so from $42 a month. In Pic-Time 2.0 it is currently unavailable; Pic-Time says it stores no facial data (Help centre: selfie search and biometrics). AI search by subject is available from Professional for you and from Advanced for your guests.

At aftersnap, face search is part of the Studio plan: guests upload a selfie and see the photos they appear in – no account, within seconds. Content search runs from Pro: every photo is analysed on upload, guests filter by ‘dancing’, ‘cake’, ‘flowers’ or ‘view’, and the two combine – every dance-floor photo with the couple in it. The analysis runs on our own servers in Europe; no third-party service ever sees the photos. And we don’t train any AI on your photos – not third-party, not our own. Face-search data is used only inside the gallery it was created for and disappears with it.

Delivery and proofing – two kinds of gallery

At aftersnap every gallery has one of two modes. The delivery gallery is the evening the couple sees the pictures for the first time: slideshow first, large view, downloads on your terms, face search for the guests. The proofing gallery (Studio plan) is the step before that: clients pick their selection and leave notes right on the image, you edit and replace the images in the same gallery, and as soon as downloads are open, the client is told. We started from a blank page here: everything happens on the image, nothing in email threads.

Two modes, one gallery: on the right the client selects and writes notes on the image, on the left the finished delivery with slideshow.

Lightroom

Both have a Lightroom plugin. Pic-Time’s is a publish service with smart collections (Help centre: Lightroom plugin); our plugin is also a publish service for Lightroom Classic – gallery and Sets are created and synced from inside Lightroom, replaced images follow. With us the plugin comes with Pro, Studio and Unlimited.

Slideshow

From Professional, Pic-Time offers a slideshow with music from a licensed library of more than 10,000 tracks (Help centre: music in the slideshow). We also have a curated library of tracks to go with the slideshow – from Pro, licensed for the gallery, chosen so that picking one is quick. And the slideshow sits in front of the gallery as the first impression, so the couple sees it before they open the full gallery – two hours after the ceremony, if you like.

Where Pic-Time is clearly ahead

We put this in writing on purpose, so you know what Pic-Time is built for – and what aftersnap is.

  • Sales. Pic-Time has a print shop with labs in Europe, payouts every two weeks, price lists in euros. aftersnap concentrates on delivery and presentation. If prints and albums are part of your business model, that decides it.
  • Marketing automation. Campaigns, discount countdowns, cart reminders – Pic-Time’s toolkit for selling.
  • Video. Pic-Time delivers videos up to 90 minutes in HD and 4K. Video is on our roadmap.
  • Mobile app. Pic-Time has an app for iOS and Android, for you and your guests. Our galleries are built for the phone and run in the browser – selfie search included, nothing to install.
  • Team accounts. Pic-Time has user roles. Team accounts are on our roadmap; today aftersnap is built for the individual photographer – one account, everything in it.
  • Blog module and vendor network. Pic-Time has both. We have vendor galleries – you release to the venue, florist or planner exactly the images they’re allowed to show.

Where aftersnap is different

  • Euros, VAT included, clear. No exchange-rate swings, no surprise on the invoice. Annual plan: pay 10 months, use 12. Monthly plans can be cancelled monthly.
  • Face search and content search in the gallery, from Studio and Pro respectively, computed on our own servers in Europe.
  • 32 languages in the guest-facing gallery, detected automatically.
  • Hosting in the EU. Servers and image analysis run in the European Union; you sign the data processing agreement in your account. Pic-Time names servers in the EU, the USA and Australia and has an EU representative in Vienna (Pic-Time privacy policy) – that’s handled properly, but it is three continents.
  • One version, continuously developed. aftersnap is young and continuously developed: what you read here is the state of things in August 2026. Team accounts, video and a blog module that lets your galleries live inside your website are on the roadmap – and updates arrive continuously, at no extra cost, for every account. Start with us today and you get more gallery every month.

Who Pic-Time remains the better choice for

If you sell prints, albums or wall art and the shop brings you revenue: stay. If you deliver wedding films or videos as well: stay. If you’re a studio with several people who need separate logins: stay. That covers a large part of the industry, and Pic-Time serves it well.

Pic-Time alternative: who aftersnap is for

If your gallery is there to show and hand over. If your guests come from several countries. If you want face search without having to move to the most expensive plan. If you want to pay in euros and know the images are in the EU. If you publish from Lightroom Classic and would rather not touch the gallery in the browser at all.

Switching – how it works in practice

  1. Run both in parallel. Your Pic-Time galleries stay up for as long as your account there is active. Open an account at aftersnap – 14-day free trial with Studio features, no payment details – and publish the next wedding there.
  2. Republish from Lightroom. The finished images are in your Lightroom catalogue; with the plugin, a gallery is one right-click away. The source is your catalogue rather than the old gallery – so every image arrives in the version you approved.
  3. Let the old galleries run out. Mind Pic-Time’s cancellation rule: cancel at least five working days before the next charge, the account runs until the end of the period, then it stops (Help centre: cancellation). Download beforehand whatever clients might still need.
  4. Move your domain. If you use your own subdomain at Pic-Time, you set it up again at aftersnap on the Studio plan.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import my Pic-Time galleries into aftersnap? The fastest route is the Lightroom plugin: your selection is in your catalogue, and the gallery is created straight from it – no detour via the old gallery.

Does aftersnap have a free plan? You test for 14 days with every Studio feature, no payment details – then you decide. The smallest plan is €7.99 a month, no minimum term.

What happens to the photos if I cancel aftersnap? After the paid period ends, your galleries stay online for 30 days – only new galleries and uploads are off. After that they go offline, the login stays, and a week later we cancel the account. Nothing is deleted in that time; if you subscribe again, everything is back at once.

Can I upload videos? Not yet – video is on our roadmap. If it’s a must for you today, Pic-Time is built for it.
