Set Up a Proofing Gallery

In the gallery editor you switch the gallery from “Delivery” to “Proofing”, set the proofing password and enter a quota for each set. From then on your clients see previews and make a binding selection from them.

Before you start
  • Proofing is included in your plan.
  • The gallery, its sets and the preview images exist and have been processed.

Every gallery runs in one of two modes. In “Delivery” the images are available according to the download setting; that is how you work once the editing is done. In “Proofing” your clients go through previews and pick their included quota from them.

Switching works in both directions and loses nothing. Guest password, master password and proofing password exist side by side.

Open gallery Gallery mode

  1. Switch from “Delivery” to “Proofing”.
  2. Set the proofing password. Without it the mode cannot be switched on.
  3. Under “More than the quota”, choose between a hard limit and “Mark as an extra photo”.
  4. Under “After the selection is final”, choose between “The selection comes to you, you deliver later” and “Selected photos can be downloaded straight away”.
  5. Decide under “Comments” whether your clients may write on the images.

The proofing password is an access of its own. The guest password of your delivery galleries does not open the selection, because this is where your clients make binding decisions.

Set the quota for each set #

After the switch, every set carries a “Quota” field at the top.

  1. Enter the number of included images for each set, for example 10 in “Portraits” and 5 in “Family”.
  2. Leave the field empty when a set takes no part in the selection.
  3. Enter 0 when a set may only contribute extra photos.

Quotas add up. In the example above your clients pick fifteen included images.

Check before you share #

  1. Open the gallery preview and sign in with the proofing password.
  2. Go through every set and check the number of included images shown there.
  3. Select one image too many on purpose and see whether the selection blocks or an extra photo appears.
  4. Write a test comment if comments are allowed.

An expiration date set earlier applies in proofing mode as well. It is shown there as a note, even though the setting itself is hidden.

Check the result

Only when that is right do you publish the gallery and pass on the link together with the proofing password.
