Set Up a Proofing Gallery
In the gallery editor you switch the gallery from “Delivery” to “Proofing”, set the proofing password and enter an allowance for each set. From then on your clients see previews and make a binding selection from them.

The two gallery modes #
Ab Tarif Studio Tarife ansehenEvery gallery runs in one of two modes. In “Delivery” the images are available according to the download setting; that is how you work once the editing is done. In “Proofing” your clients go through previews and pick their included photos from them.
Switching works in both directions and loses nothing. Guest password, master password and proofing password exist side by side.
Switch the gallery to proofing #

- Switch from “Delivery” to “Proofing”.
- Set the proofing password. Without it the mode cannot be switched on.
- Under “Selecting more than the included amount”, choose between “Don’t allow (hard limit)” and “Keep as an additional photo; you unlock after payment”.
- Under “After finalizing”, choose between “The selection goes to you; you deliver later” and “Selected photos can be downloaded right away”.
- Under “Notes”, “Allow client notes” is switched on. Switch it off if your clients should not write on the images.
The proofing password is an access of its own. The guest password of your delivery galleries does not open the selection, because this is where your clients make binding decisions.
Set the allowance for each set #
Ab Tarif Studio Tarife ansehenAfter the switch, every set carries an “Allowance” field at the top.
- Enter the number of included images for each set, for example 10 in “Portraits” and 5 in “Family”.
- Leave the field empty when a set takes no part in the selection.
- Enter 0 when a set may only contribute additional photos.
Allowances add up. In the example above your clients pick fifteen included images.
Check before you share #
Ab Tarif Studio Tarife ansehenIn the “Preview gallery” view you see everything without a password as the owner, but you cannot select there. A gallery in draft is also shown to nobody but you. So you test the selection with the proofing password after publishing and before you send the link.
- Open “Preview gallery”, go through every set and check the number of included images shown there.
- Click “Publish gallery” at the top right. Do not send the link yet.
- Open the gallery link in a private browser window and sign in with the proofing password.
- Select one image too many on purpose and see whether the selection blocks or an additional photo appears.
- Take the test selection out again. Do not finalise it.
An expiration date set earlier applies in proofing mode as well. It is shown there as a note, even though the setting itself is hidden.
Do not write a test note in the real gallery: until you delete it, your clients see it in the thread on the image.
Only when that is right do you pass on the link together with the proofing password.
Send the link to your clients #

For proofing galleries aftersnap sends an email of its own. It asks for the selection, states the allowance per set and says what happens after the binding selection. Below it are the “Select photos” button and the proofing password.
- Click “Send gallery link by email”.
- Choose single person or couple and the form of address, then enter names and email address.
- Check the proofing email in the preview and send it.
You adapt the text of the proofing email under “Email Sending”, as a template of its own next to the gallery link email.
