Extra Photos, Comments and Recommendations

When your clients pick more than the quota, those images go onto a list of extra photos that you release after payment. Comments run as a thread on the image, your clients give stars and colours in the large view, and the red bookmark marks the photos you recommend yourself.

Open gallery Proofing status Extra photos

Extra photos are marked, not bought. Price and payment are settled outside aftersnap.

  1. Open the “Extra photos” filter and go through what has been marked.
  2. Click “Release” on the single image, or use “Release all”.

Releasing makes an extra photo part of the delivery. The action appears in the history with its time and file name.

Answer comments #

Your clients can start a thread on any image, for a retouching request for instance. New messages appear on both sides without reloading; when several pile up, you get a summary by email.

  1. Open the “Comments” filter in the proofing status. Images with an open message carry a red circle.
  2. Reply right on the image.
  3. Tick off a request you have carried out with “Mark as done”, or use “Mark all as done” when there are many.

If your clients write again afterwards, the thread counts as open once more. The older messages stay on the image.

Mark your own recommendations #

The red bookmark on an image marks what you recommend yourself. A second click takes the mark off again. The large view (click on the photo) is quicker: the arrow keys move on, the space bar sets the recommendation and takes it off again.

With the Lightroom plugin you set the recommendations in your catalogue: flag photos with P, then choose “aftersnap: Send flags as recommendations”. How the comparison works is described under “Set Recommendations from Lightroom”.

Check the result

Your clients see the mark on the image. As soon as a set holds at least one recommendation, a “Recommendation” filter appears there.

Stars and colours from your clients #

Open gallery Gallery settings Stars and colours

Two switches, both off to begin with: “Allow stars” and “Allow colour labels”. Switched on, your clients give up to five stars in the large view and one of the colours red, yellow, green or blue. On a computer the keys are the ones from Lightroom: 1 to 5 for the stars, 0 removes them, 6 to 9 switch the colours on and off.

Stars and colours come on top of the binding selection, they do not replace it. Photos that are not selected can be rated too.

  1. Switch on “Allow stars” or “Allow colour labels” in the gallery settings.
  2. Say in the info text what the colours stand for, “Red = please retouch” for example.
  3. In the proofing status, filter by stars from a minimum upwards or by one colour.

Once the selection is finalised, stars and colours are frozen like the selection itself. “Reopen selection” releases them again.

On the tile the stars appear as a chip, the colour as an edge on the right-hand side. Your clients filter in their gallery the same way: in each set by stars from a minimum upwards and by colour. Each colour dot shows how many images of the set carry that colour.
