CloudSpot alternative: client galleries with face search, in euros and from the EU
CloudSpot: gallery, studio manager and shop for US photographers: no face search, US-only servers and labs. A CloudSpot alternative from the EU, August 2026.
CloudSpot, based in California, promises client galleries and studio management in one: contracts, invoices, booking, a shop, plus a free plan that never expires. If you’re searching for a “CloudSpot alternative”, you’re most likely a wedding or event photographer in Europe who has run into three things: no face search for guests, servers only in the US, labs only in the US. This post walks through the differences, as of 17 August 2026.
CloudSpot in three paragraphs
Cloud Spot Inc. is based in Yorba Linda, California, and sells client galleries with a built-in studio manager: client records, contracts, invoices, a booking flow, plus a shop with partner labs (CloudSpot). Five plans, priced in US dollars: Free with 5 GB and three galleries, Entry at $7 with 15 GB, Lite at $17 with 100 GB and the full feature set, Pro at $34 with 500 GB, Unlimited at $50 (CloudSpot: pricing). On Free and Entry, CloudSpot keeps a 15 % commission on sales; from Lite upwards it’s zero.
What CloudSpot does: password, expiry date, favourites for selection, a Lightroom plugin (one direction only, from Lightroom to CloudSpot), up to three watermarks, your own domain and branding removal, a guest-facing gallery in ten languages, German among them. The slideshow runs without music; video is only available as an external embed; the “app” is a home-screen link to the web gallery.
What CloudSpot lacks: face search for guests, AI search, labs in Europe (its partner labs WHCC, Mpix and Miller’s are all in the US). The privacy policy names only US servers and says nothing about adequacy status; we couldn’t find a data processing agreement or standard contractual clauses anywhere in public (CloudSpot: privacy). Photography blogs praise how easy it is for clients and the studio manager at this price, but see CloudSpot at a disadvantage for weddings and large events because face search is missing.
Pricing: dollars against euros

On storage we’re more generous: 50 GB against 15 GB at entry level, 300 GB against 100 GB in the middle, a terabyte against 500 GB at the top. On “unlimited”, CloudSpot at $50 is cheaper than our Unlimited plan at €99. Our prices are in euros and you can cancel monthly; the annual plan costs the price of ten months. The figures shown are prices for Germany including 19 % VAT. Other EU countries apply their own rate, and businesses with a valid VAT number are billed ex VAT (reverse charge).
What guests see
Face search. CloudSpot has none. At aftersnap, face search is part of the Studio plan: upload a selfie, see your own photos, no account needed. At a wedding with 120 guests, that’s the difference between “can you send me the ones of me?” and a quiet inbox. The data behind it is used only inside the gallery it was created for and disappears with it; we don’t train any AI on your photos (not third-party, not our own), and the analysis runs on our own servers in Europe.
Content search. Not documented at CloudSpot. Our content search is available from Pro: ‘dance’, ‘cake’, ‘flowers’ or ‘view’ as filters, combinable with a person.
Slideshow. CloudSpot’s slideshow runs without music; music only via embedded videos from Vimeo or Animoto. Our slideshow is available from Pro with music from a licensed aftersnap library, as the first impression before the gallery opens.
Languages. CloudSpot shows the gallery to guests in ten languages, German among them; the dashboard is in English. aftersnap shows galleries in 32 languages (all 24 official EU languages and eight more, chosen automatically from the browser setting) and the dashboard in 14 languages, English included.
Your own domain, watermarks, expiry date, password. Both have them. With us, your own domain from Studio, your subdomain at aftersnap from Pro, your logo on every download from Pro.
Delivery and proofing: two kinds of gallery
At aftersnap every gallery has one of two modes. The delivery gallery is the evening the couple sees their photos for the first time: slideshow first, large view, download by your rules, face search for the guests. The proofing gallery (Studio plan) is the step before that: clients pick their selection and write notes directly on the photo, you edit and replace the photos in the same gallery, and as soon as the download is released, the client hears about it. We built this from a blank sheet: everything happens on the photo, nothing in email threads. CloudSpot has favourites for selection; a route for the edited photos back into the same gallery is something we didn’t find there.

Where CloudSpot is clearly ahead
- Studio manager. Contracts, invoices, booking, client records inside the gallery platform, rare at this price. aftersnap is a client gallery, and focused on that.
- Shop with US labs, commission-free from Lite. aftersnap is focused on delivery and presentation.
- Free plan with 5 GB and three galleries, permanent.
- Unlimited for $50.
Where aftersnap is different
- Young and evolving. aftersnap is young and continuously developed: what you read here is the state of play in August 2026. Team accounts, video and a blog module that lets your galleries live inside your website are on the roadmap, and updates arrive continuously, at no extra cost, for every account. If you start with us today, you get more gallery every month.
- Face search and content search for guests, computed in Europe.
- Slideshow with music, no embedding detour.
- 32 guest languages, 14 dashboard languages.
- Hosting in the EU, data processing agreement in your account. CloudSpot, by its own account, hosts in the US only, and we found neither standard contractual clauses nor a data processing agreement. For photographers in the EU, that’s something to clear up before booking.
- Euros, prices incl. VAT, cancel monthly. After the paid period ends, your galleries stay online for 30 days, then go offline; after another week we cancel the account. Nothing is deleted during that time: if you book again, everything is back at once.
- Lightroom as a publish service. CloudSpot’s plugin sends photos from Lightroom into the gallery; our plugin creates the gallery and its Sets from Lightroom Classic and keeps them in sync (replaced photos follow). Included from Pro.
- Vendor galleries for venue, florist and planner (vendor galleries).
Who CloudSpot remains the better choice for
If you work in the US and want galleries, contracts, invoices and a shop in one tool. If the free plan is enough for you. If you don’t need face search and your clients read English.
CloudSpot alternative: who aftersnap is for
If you shoot in Europe and want to know the photos are stored in the EU, with a data processing agreement in your account. If you want guests to find themselves by selfie. If your guests come from several countries. If you want to work in euros. If you publish from Lightroom Classic.
Switching: how it works in practice
- Create an account and run both in parallel. 14-day Studio trial, no payment details. Your CloudSpot galleries stay up for as long as your account there is active.
- Publish the next delivery from Lightroom. The photos are in your catalogue; with the plugin, the gallery is a right-click away. Your catalogue is the source, so every photo arrives in the version you approved, with no detour through the old gallery.
- Back up old galleries, then cancel. Download whatever clients might still need.
- Move your domain across. You set up your own domain at aftersnap on the Studio plan.
