ShootProof alternative: client galleries in euros, with no photo limit and no add-on packs
Looking for a ShootProof alternative? ShootProof bills per photo, in dollars, music costs extra. A gallery with face search and EU hosting, compared as of August 2026.
ShootProof, based in Atlanta, is known among US photographers for two things: an interface that regularly gets top marks for ease of use in reviews, and zero commission on sales. Most people searching for a “ShootProof alternative” do so because of the pricing model: you pay per photo rather than per gigabyte, in US dollars, and slideshow music or archiving costs extra. This post walks through the differences, as of 17 August 2026.
ShootProof in three paragraphs
ShootProof, LLC is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and sells client galleries with sales, contracts and invoicing for photographers (ShootProof: About us). Plans are set by the number of photos: Free with 100 photos, then 1,500, 5,000 and 25,000 photos for $12.99, $21.99 and $31.99 a month ($10.99, $19.99 and $26.67 billed annually), Unlimited for $60 ($50 annually) (ShootProof: Pricing). No plan takes commission on sales, a real argument for anyone who sells through the gallery.
What ShootProof does: password, expiry date, favourites and labels for selection, soft proofing, Lightroom plugin, watermarks with AI protection against removal, a print shop with partner labs (for Europe, Loxley Colour, shipping to Germany, Austria and Switzerland), guest-facing gallery in 13 languages, German among them (ShootProof: Features). Video is embed-only from YouTube or Vimeo, no file uploads; the “mobile app” is a web app for the home screen with up to 250 photos to view and share, without download or purchase.
Users rate ShootProof well: 4.9 out of 5 on G2 across 92 reviews, 4.9 for ease of use on Capterra (G2: ShootProof, Capterra: ShootProof). Criticism centres on extra costs (slideshow music, archiving and booking are paid packs) and on isolated reliability problems with emails and orders, going by Trustpilot reviews. According to the privacy policy, servers and processing are in the USA; a data processing agreement is available on request.

The difference is in what gets counted. ShootProof counts photos: for a wedding photographer delivering 700 images per wedding, 5,000 photos is seven weddings. Then the plan is full, however small the files. We count storage: 300 GB on Pro is around 60,000 photos at 5 MB each, and when galleries expire, the space is freed up again. If you deliver lots of small files, you’re better off with us; if you deliver a few enormous ones, with ShootProof. Our prices are in euros and include VAT: the pricing page shows the German rate of 19 %, other EU countries apply their own rate, and businesses with a valid VAT number are billed ex VAT (reverse charge). You can cancel monthly; the annual plan costs ten months.
What guests see
Face search. ShootProof has no selfie search for guests; searching within the gallery works via EXIF data. On aftersnap, face search is part of the Studio plan: upload a selfie, see your own photos, no account needed. The data is used only inside the gallery it was created for and disappears with it; we don’t train any AI on your photos (not third-party, not our own), and the analysis runs on our own servers in Europe.
Content search. ShootProof doesn’t have it. Our content search is available from Pro: dance, cake, flowers, view as filters, combinable with a person.
Slideshow. At ShootProof, the slideshow with music is a paid pack at $5 to $10 a month. With us, the slideshow runs from Pro with music from a licensed aftersnap library, no add-on pack, as the first impression before the gallery opens.
Languages. ShootProof shows the guest-facing gallery in 13 languages, German among them; the dashboard is English only. aftersnap shows galleries in 32 languages (all 24 official EU languages and eight more, automatically following the browser setting) and the dashboard in 14 languages, English included.
Your own domain. ShootProof connects a subdomain; whether ShootProof branding can be removed completely, we couldn’t confirm. With us, from Studio you get your own domain and the gallery without aftersnap branding; from Pro, your own subdomain with us.
Delivery and proofing: two kinds of gallery
ShootProof has favourites, labels and soft proofing: selection is a core part of the product. On aftersnap, every gallery has one of two modes. The delivery gallery is the evening the couple sees the pictures for the first time: slideshow first, large view, download under your rules, face search for guests. The proofing gallery (Studio plan) is the step before that: clients select and write notes directly on the image, you edit and replace the images in the same gallery, and as soon as the download is released, the client is notified. We started this one from a blank sheet: everything happens on the image, nothing gets lost in email threads.

Where ShootProof is clearly ahead
- Sales without commission, with labs that ship to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. If you sell prints through the gallery, this is a complete system. aftersnap is focused on delivery and presentation.
- Contracts and invoicing inside the platform. aftersnap is a client gallery, and focused on that.
- Free plan with 100 photos, no time limit.
- Ease of use according to reviews: 4.9 out of 5 on G2 is a statement.
- Sixteen years on the market, since 2010. aftersnap is young and continuously developed: what you read here is the state of things in August 2026. Team accounts, video and a blog module that lets your galleries live inside your own website are on the roadmap, and updates arrive continuously, at no extra cost, for every account. Start with us today and you get more gallery every month.
Where aftersnap is different
- Storage instead of photo count, euros instead of dollars, VAT included, cancel monthly. After the paid period ends, your galleries stay online for 30 days, then go offline; a week later we cancel the account. Nothing is deleted during that time, and if you rebook, everything is back at once.
- Everything included in the plan. Slideshow with music, expiry date, statistics: included, no add-on packs.
- Face search and content search for guests, computed in Europe.
- 32 guest languages, 14 dashboard languages.
- Hosting in the EU, data processing agreement in your account. No need to ask for it by email.
- Lightroom as a publish service. Both have a plugin; ours creates the gallery and Sets from Lightroom Classic and keeps them in sync (Lightroom plugin). Included from Pro.
- Vendor galleries for the venue, the florist and the planner (vendor galleries).
Who ShootProof remains the better choice for
If you sell through the gallery and the zero commission works out for you. If you want contracts and invoicing in the same tool. If you work in the USA or dollar prices don’t matter to you. If the Free plan is enough for you.
ShootProof alternative: who aftersnap is for
If your gallery is there to show and hand over. If you want to pay in euros and know the pictures are stored in the EU. If guests should be able to find themselves with a selfie. If you don’t want to pay for slideshow music as an add-on. If your guests come from several countries. If you publish from Lightroom Classic.
Switching: how it works in practice
- Create an account and run both in parallel. 14-day Studio trial, no payment details. Your ShootProof galleries stay up for as long as your account there is active.
- Publish the next delivery from Lightroom. The images are in your catalogue; with the plugin, the gallery is a right-click away. Your catalogue is the source, so every image arrives in the version you approved, with no need to go via the old gallery.
- Back up old galleries, then cancel. Download whatever clients might still need; ShootProof plans run to the end of the billing period.
- Move your domain. You set up your own domain on aftersnap in the Studio plan.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import my ShootProof galleries into aftersnap? The route is the Lightroom plugin: the selection is in your catalogue, and the gallery is created straight from it. No detour via the old gallery.
Does aftersnap have a photo limit? Storage is what counts: 50 GB, 300 GB, 1 TB or unlimited with a fair-use rule. Galleries that expire free up their space.
Can I sell prints on aftersnap? aftersnap is focused on delivery and presentation. If the shop is your revenue, ShootProof is built for that.
Does slideshow music cost extra? From Pro it’s included in the plan.
