Publish Your First Gallery in the Browser
You create a gallery in the dashboard, upload the photos into its first set, choose the cover photo and the download setting, and publish it. From then on the gallery link takes your clients to the images; password, watermark and slideshow can follow later.

- The images are on your computer as JPG, PNG or WebP files.
- Your plan still has room for another gallery and for the files.
Create the gallery #
Dashboard New gallery
In aftersnap, photos always belong to a set, never to the gallery itself. That is why aftersnap creates a first set along with the gallery.
- Click “New gallery” in the dashboard.
- Enter a name, for example “Anna and Jonas”.
- Click “Create gallery”.
The new gallery is a draft. Its link shows nothing until you publish it.
Upload the photos #
Click “Upload photos” in the set, or drag the files straight into it.
- Select the images.
- If the selection does not fit into your free storage, aftersnap shows how much is missing. “Only upload what fits” uploads the part that does.
- Wait until no photo shows a processing status any more. Until then you can carry on working in the gallery.
If aftersnap already knows a file, one dialogue decides for the whole batch: “Skip” leaves the existing photo untouched, “Replace” swaps the file and keeps sorting, selection and comments, “Save as copy” keeps both and adds a suffix to the new name.
Choose the cover photo #
The cover photo is what your clients see first when they open the gallery.
- Hover over the photo you want and click the star icon.
- In the “Set as cover photo?” dialogue, choose “Desktop”.
- For a separate portrait crop, repeat this and choose “Mobile”.
Without a mobile cover photo of its own, aftersnap uses the desktop image there.
Set the download option #

A new gallery starts at “No download”. You decide what your clients may take with them.
“No download” keeps the gallery for viewing. “Download: single photos” releases individual files. “Download: single photos + ZIP” additionally offers the whole gallery as one file.
The heart buttons and the favourites download are switched on separately under “Display”. They need “single photos + ZIP”.
Check the gallery as a guest sees it #
The preview icon (“Preview gallery”) opens the gallery exactly as your guests will see it.
- Check the cover photo, the title and the order of the sets.
- Open one image and page through the gallery.
- Download a single photo if you have released downloads.
Open the gallery link in a private browser window. Cover photo, sets and the download setting must look exactly as they did in the preview. A browser remembers a password for the session; a private window asks for it again.
Publish #
Ab Tarif Basic Tarife ansehenThe status at the top of the gallery switches between “Draft” and “Published”.
- Click the status “Draft”.
- The status changes to “Published”. Only now does the link lead to the photos.
If you set a published gallery back to “Draft”, a link you have already sent no longer leads to the photos. The gallery, its images and its settings stay as they are.
Share the link #
Click “Copy” next to the gallery link and put the link into a message of your own.
Send the link from aftersnap #
Ab Tarif Pro Tarife ansehenInstead of writing the message yourself, you can put it together in aftersnap.
- Click “Send gallery link by email”.
- Choose a single person or a couple, and the form of address.
- Enter name and email address, and add a personal message if you want one.
- Check the subject and the text in the preview, then send.
Without a mailbox of your own the message goes out through aftersnap. The sender is then aftersnap, but replies still reach you. With your own SMTP access your address is the sender.
