Entering billing details and tax information

Without an address your price is not settled, because your country decides the tax rate. Anyone buying for a business also enters a VAT ID or a business number.

Why the address is needed #

The law puts your address on the invoice, and your country decides the tax rate. Only with both does it become clear what you actually pay. Before that, the plan page shows the list price alone.

As long as you book nothing, there is nothing to enter here.

Entering your address #

Menu with your name Billing Details

  1. Enter your name, street, postcode and city.
  2. Pick your country.
  3. Enter a company if you need to.
  4. Click “Save”.
Check the result

The plan page then shows the amount that applies in your country instead of the list price.

Buying for a business #

Menu with your name Billing Details

  1. Tick “I use aftersnap for business”.
  2. Inside the EU, enter your VAT ID, for example DE123456789.
  3. Outside the EU, enter your business or tax ID number.
  4. Click “Save”.

The VAT ID is checked against VIES at the European Commission right away. Next to the field it says “Checking…” during the check and shows the result afterwards. With a valid number we bill without VAT; the procedure is called reverse charge.

If it does not work
It says “Invalid” next to the VAT ID.
Check the country code at the start and the digits. VIES is unreachable at times; in that case a second attempt later helps.
It says the name does not match.
VIES returns a registered company name for your number. Enter exactly that name in the “Company” field.
It says we cannot bill you with your current billing details.
Some EU countries require a valid VAT ID from business customers. Enter it, or take the tick for business use off.

Downloading invoices #

Every document is there to download under your invoices, together with the date of the next charge. Credit notes carry their own badge in the same list.
